St. John's Small Group Ministries

Thanks to the talents and dedication of St John’s members, fellow members and folks from the community have a variety of personal and spiritual growth opportunities available this fall.

“We are committed to providing multiple ways for people to engage in community, grow spiritually, and develop new friendships,” said Pastor Kathy Dwyer. “Our next round of groups has something for everyone! Our programs are open to members and non-members and we encourage broad participation.”

After reviewing the information listed below, contact the church office at 614-224-8634 or via e-mail to:

  • Discuss participation in a group
  • Propose a new group topic
  • Put yourself forward as a potential small group leader

END HUNGER GROUP
Participants staff the St Paul UCC Food Pantry on the last Thursday of each month. This hands-on activity is a service opportunity with direct and immediate impact on those in need. Think about it. One of the spiritual gifts you might have (see the Spiritual Gifts group described above) is the willingness to devote a few hours monthly to serve others without fanfare.

Dates: Last Thursday of each month, 6 – 8 pm
Location: St Paul UCC Food Pantry, 225 East Gates St.
Leader: Kathy Markus.
Contact: Kathy, 614-475-5675, or Dick, 614-219-3288 for information and to sign up.

GREAT FUN DAYS FOR GRANDPARENTS & GRANDCHILDREN
It’s just what it says—periodic gatherings of grandparents and their grandchildren, or adults with “adopted/borrowed” grandchildren, at various venues to have fun together. This group gives added meaning to the phrases “young at heart,” and “we’re all children of God.”

Dates & Locations : To be determined by the group
Contact: Barbara McClure, 614-870-2004, for information and to coordinate scheduling the first meeting.

LECTIONARY-BASED BIBLE STUDY
Go deeply into selected passages designated by the Revised Common Lectionary for the coming Sunday in careful reading of Scripture, in different translations, and far-ranging discussion in which we explore the ways in which God is calling us each to service through our intersection with specific verses, phrases or words. No registration is required; coffee and refreshments will be provided; bring your Bible and a friend.

Dates: To be announced
Location: Fellowship Hall
Contact: Nancy Raabe, 614-214-2639 or via e-mail, for additional information.
